The role of different organs in the hydroxylation of pumiliotoxin (+)-251D to allopumiliotoxin (+)-267A in the poison frog Adelphobates galactonotus

Basil has published his second research paper from his master's thesis at the University of São Paulo, advancing our understanding of alkaloid distribution in poison frogs.

This work reveals how toxic compounds move through and persist in frog organs, using innovative analytical techniques to track pumiliotoxins and allopumiliotoxins across fat bodies, kidneys, and urine. Through sophisticated solid phase extraction methods, Basil conducted the first comprehensive organ-by-organ analysis of how the potent alkaloid pumiliotoxin (+)-251D is processed in Adelphobates galactonotus.

About Us

We are two passionate biologists and wildlife enthusiasts, who wish to explore, uncover and understand nature's wonders and ecological processes. With a strong background in herpetology and chemistry, we aim to combine scientific research with multimedia production.

JungleLens was born from the desire to connect people with nature, while encouraging conservation and sutainability through original images and stories. Our work documents scientific expeditions, research and the beauty of wildlife, using the power of film and photography.

Two people, Basil Minder and Juila A. Pinna with backpacks, one holding a camera, stand in front of a large, colorful rock wall with layered formations. Sparse vegetation is visible at the top of the cliff, in the caatinga.

Take us on your adventure

From research expeditions to daring explorations, your most extraordinary moments will be in our focus.
